People often say that celebrities have fate or luck on their side, but perhaps some of these stars conjured up their own destiny. Is a brush with fame really just a stroke of magic? As the season of the witch continues to unfold, let's unpack some of the most powerful members of Hollywood's coven. Here are 17 famous witches and warlocks who I wouldn't dare mess with:

Joseph Okpako / Getty ImagesIt seems Del Reyās version of āSeason Of The Witchā hits close to home. In fact, she used her powers to place a hex on President Donald Trump during his first term. Rumors about her ritualistic practice surfaced on Twitter in 2017. She tweeted, āAt the stroke of midnightā¦Feb 24, March 26, April 24, May 23ā¦Ingredients can [be] found online.ā Her followers noticed that these dates corresponded with the waning crescent moon phases. In occult circles, waning crescents symbolize catharsis and the release of negativity.

Mike Coppola/MG25 / Getty ImagesWhen NME asked her about her alleged hex on Trump, Del Rey unabashedly confirmed the suspicions. āYeah, I did it. Why not? Look, I do a lot of shit,ā she answered. Remind me to gather those cryptic āingredientsā before the next waning crescent moon rises.

Taylor Hill / Getty Images2. Lana Del Rey isnāt the only celebrity who has cast a spell on a President. Half Magic writer, director, and star Heather Graham once brought a coven of confidantes together to āwishā Barack Obama into office. āWell, I have some friends, and we get together, and we make wishes,ā Graham revealed on a 2018 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

TheStewartofNY / Getty ImagesWe like to call ourselves witches just to feel kind of fun,ā she continued. āWe were wishing for Obama to be elected,ā Graham admitted. āRight, and it happened! [...] Did you guys forget to do a wish this time around?ā Kimmel inquired, referring to Trumpās 2016 election as President.

3. Vanessa Hudgens uses her identity as a witch to propel her creativity and love life to new heights (itās almost like sheās on a broomstick). In her 2023 Tubi documentary Dead Hot: Season of the Witch, Hudgens travels to Salem, Massachusetts, to explore witchcraft and the spirit world in contrast with modern life.

Phillip Faraone/VF25 / Getty ImagesāI want to take away the (stigma) of witchcraft being something evil. Itās beautiful, itās empowering. Itās about sisterhood and lifting other women up and allowing people a safe space to connect,ā Hudgens told TODAY.

Lionel Hahn / Getty ImagesHudgens claims her marriage to Cole Tucker is a direct result of āthe power of manifestation.ā Hudgens divulged to Marie Claire, āI do consider myself a witch, and I love working with the moon and with herbs and with stones and, you know, everything has a meaning and an energy, and the more you learn about what everything has to offer, the more you can use its energy to bring forth the things you want in your life.ā

Cindy Ord/VF25 / Getty Images4. Gisele Bündchen called herself a āwitch of loveā in a 2023 Vanity Fair profile. She is known for using her healing powers to help injured animals and her ex-husband, Tom Brady.

James Devaney / Getty ImagesBrady once revealed to CBS News, āSheās so about the power of intention, and believing things that are really going to happen, and she always makes a little altar for me at the game, because she just wills it so much. So, she put together a little altar for me that I could bring with pictures of my kids.ā

Taylor Hill / Getty ImagesBündchen hasnāt been shy about her love of crystals and astrology. Sheās something of a modern-day Snow White who believes in the āpower of natureā and gets close to the birds, squirrels, and butterflies she meets in passing.

Tristar Media / Getty Images5. Matt Skiba was the guitarist and co-lead vocalist of Blink-182 during the years (2015-2022) when founding member Tom DeLonge wasnāt part of the band.

Amanda Edwards / Getty ImagesDuring his time with Blink-182, Skiba said he used witchcraft to prevent the notoriously cursed Fyre Festival from happening. āI had a bad feeling about that event,ā Skiba revealed to NME.

Rich Fury / Getty ImagesāI consider myself a pagan and a witch. With every inch of my energy, I wanted Fyre not to happen. I put all the electricity and energy in my body against that thing happening.ā Blink-182 was originally slated to perform at the festival alongside acts like Migos, Major Lazer, and Disclosure, but they eventually backed out due to ātechnical and logistical issues.ā The question remains: Was that really why Blink-182 dropped out of Fyre Fest, or was something supernatural at play?

Kevin Mazur / Getty ImagesGrimes recently picked her spellbook up off the shelf and revisited her old passion for witchcraft. In a 2019 interview with DAZED, she confided, āI have performed many spells. Most recently, I performed a spell to save the life of someone important to me, and it dramatically worked.ā Evidently, Grimesā power as a witch was never just a phase.

Getty Images / Getty ImagesGrowing up in the macabre landscape of Camberwell (a district in South London, England), Welch was fascinated by the paranormal. One of her primordial memories is writing spellbooks with her coven of classmates. āOne time, I tried to make one of my classmates fall in love with me, so me and my coven put his name in a bottle, and the rule was that there had to be a drop of blood and⦠well, I donāt know if it ever worked,ā Welch told VICE.

Joseph Okpako / Getty ImagesSheās taken this childhood interest in witchcraft on the road with her as a touring musician. āI remember being in a hotel room at some point during touring and taking out photos and rocks at 5 AM in the morning to make a spell with my bandmates,ā Welch shared. Since Welch regards her songs as magic, we may all be under her spell right now.

Pascal Le Segretain / Getty Images9. Ariana Grandeās performance as Glinda the Good in Wicked was a little more method than I ever imagined. The ājust like magicā singer confirmed her witchy status in a 2024 interview on the Zach Sang Show.

While he might not have called himself a practicing Pagan, Swayze possessed a deep curiosity for the spiritual world.

Vinnie Zuffante / Getty Images11. Princess Nokiaās heritage in Regla de Ocha, or SanterĆa, is a defining facet of her music and identity. She told The Fader, "My religious beliefs are my birthright. John Lamparski / Getty Images"A lot of practices of Regla de Ocha come with mediumship, clairvoyance, and healing abilities. I view these abilities as gifts. My connection to Regla de Ocha comes through my mother and [my] motherās mother," she said.

WWD / Getty ImagesPrincess Nokia pays homage to her Puerto Rican and Yoruba roots in her song āBrujasā (Spanish for witches). She raps, āI'm that Black a-Rican bruja / Straight out from the Yoruba / And my ancestors Nigerian, my grandmas was brujas / And I come from an island, and it's called Puerto Rico / And it's one of the smallest, but it got the most people.ā For Princess Nokia, spiritual traditions are coded in her DNA.

Banks mentioned that sheād been practicing āthree years' worth of brujerĆaā in one of her Instagram videos. As she cleaned the closet on camera, Banks shared, āReal witches do real things.ā

Julien Hekimian / Getty ImagesBanksā social media posts received major backlash from PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals). Former Senior Vice President of PETA Lisa Lange responded to Banksā videos in an exclusive statement to People. āPeople are rightly horrified to learn that Azealia Banks reportedly has been slaughtering chickens in her closet for three years, and that she is apparently so out of touch with public sentiment that she bragged about it on social media,ā Lange stated.

Christie Goodwin / Getty ImagesāBanks is also known for performing āegg spells.ā Banks revealed in an interview with VICE, āYou cleanse yourself with an egg. Pass the egg all over yourself, praying for all your negativity to go away into the egg. But usually you do it when someone is fucking with you to get what the person is doing off of you. You crack it in a crossroad, and you walk away, and you donāt look back. That shit works.ā Hereās to hoping sheās getting her eggs at the store instead of from inside the closet.

But Iām a sole practitioner; I donāt belong to a coven, which is a group of people that believe in the same things," she continued.
