Carli Lloydretired from soccer in 2021 — and in the years since, she's become a mom.
The former soccer star is currently preparing to become a mom for the second time. Lloyd and her husband, Brian Hollins, welcomed their daughter, Harper, in October 2024. Just a few months ago in April 2026, the couple announced that they were expecting their second child, due in September.
"Our family is growing, and we couldn't be more grateful! 🤍," the former soccer star wrote on Instagram.
She may have walked away from the field several years ago, but Lloyd has since returned to her sport as a broadcaster for Fox Sports. Her latest assignment is covering the 2026 World Cup.

Lloyd has been open about her fertility journey

In May 2024, Lloyd announced that she and her husband, Hollins, were expecting their first child.
In a personal essay for Women's Health, Lloyd revealed that she and her husband had a difficult journey to get pregnant.
"I was very naive to think that we wouldn't have any issues getting pregnant," she wrote. "And so it began. The casual whatever happens, happens turned into disappointment month after month. I was starting to feel like this was a race against the clock — my 40-year-old biological clock."
Lloyd went through in vitro fertilization (IVF), with the first two rounds being unsuccessful. In her personal essay, she revealed how she initially felt "ashamed and embarrassed" going through IVF, but added, "As time went on, I realized that ... many women are going through similar struggles."
Lloyd said she went into her third round of IVF with a "totally different" mindset, and when she learned she was pregnant, she "felt at peace."
She shared the pregnancy news in a May 2024 Instagram post, writing in the caption, "It has been a rollercoaster of a journey to get to this point."

"We are beyond excited to be parents! I couldn't have gotten through this without my amazing husband, Brian, He truly has kept me going," Lloyd added. "We are so grateful for all the love and support we had from our family and friends. 🙏🏼💖."

On Oct. 18, 2024, Lloyd and Hollins welcomed their daughter, Harper Anne Hollins, announcing the arrival in an Instagram post.
"So very grateful for this amazing blessing in our lives. By far the hardest thing I have ever endured but the best thing I've ever done!" she captioned images of the newborn. "I am so thankful for the amazing team that surrounded us and helped Harper enter this world."
She continued, writing, "We just can't get enough of this little peanut. We love love you so much and will do our best to give you the tools necessary in life to be a good human being! 💗."
Over the years, Lloyd has shared a number of special milestones with Harper, including meeting the Easter bunny, playing golf, swimming and celebrating her daughter's first birthday.

In April 2026, Lloyd announced she and Hollins were expanding their family.
In an Instagram post, Lloyd revealed she and Hollins were expecting their second child, sharing a series of heartwarming photos featuring their daughter, who wore a pink "Big Sister" sweater. The carousel of images also showed Harper and her parents holding a sonogram strip.
"We're soaking in every bit of gratitude, love, and excitement as we prepare to welcome another little miracle into our lives," Lloyd wrote in the caption. "Being blessed with another baby still feels hard to believe, and our hearts are so full. 💖."

In her April 2026 Instagram post, Lloyd revealed that her second child is due in September. She ended her Instagram caption with a series of hashtags, including "#familyoffour," "#ivfjourney,""#grateful" and "#blessed."
Lloyd told PEOPLE in June 2026 that she was feeling "good" about her second pregnancy.
"This is a little bit different being pregnant while also having a toddler, so it's very exhausting, to say the least," she continued. "But worth every bit of it. We're really excited!"
