Hilary Duff is pushing back after a viral take labeled her sound āreheated Sabrina.ā She addressed it on a recent podcast appearance. The former Disney alum framed the comparison as lazy and rushed. She also kept the tone measured while discussing her new album, āLuck⦠Or Something.ā The moment landed days after her sold-out London return. āThe internet is so fast,ā the mother of four said.

On the āTable Manners Podcastā YouTube upload posted on March 3, the hosts, Jessie Ware and her mother, Lennie Ware, introduced her as the star of āLizzie McGuire.ā They also cited her Netflix series āYounger.ā The description said she is fresh off a sold-out Shepherdās Bush Empire show. It also said she will headline āThe O2ā later this year. The hosts also noted resale tickets hit āover a grandā for the London night.
Hilary Duff said she struggles with comparisons between women artists. She said, āI have a really hard time talking about other female artists.ā Then she added, āThe internet is so fast to hear something one time.ā She continued, āAnd then be like, āOh, reheated Sabrina.āā The 38-year-old popstar countered the criticism with, āWell, I will I am older and I was here first.ā The Disney star has been making pop hits since 2002 with the first album, āSanta Claus Lane.ā

Next, she said, āThereās like plenty of space obviously for everyone.ā She also said, āItās very hard to be completely original anymore.ā In turn, she framed it as a pop reality, not a personal feud.
However, she also explained her creative headspace on this record. She said she only wanted to make the album with her husband, musician and songwriter Matthew Koma. She said, āI knew I only wanted to work with him on the record.ā Then she added, āIāve never really like put the gates up.ā She described the themes as personal and specific. She said it did not āmake senseā to bring outsiders into it.
Still, she clarified what matters more than online labeling. She said, āYou just have to go in the studio and make what you think is cool.ā She added, āMake what you want to blast in the car.ā Then she closed the loop on Sabrina Carpenter talk. She said, āIf anything itās a compliment.ā That is why Duffās reheated chatter may fade fast. For now, the pop vet is back in the mix.
