While Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel have locked horns in their bitter war of words, Kimmelâs wife is now revealing how the feud has affected their family
Appearing on Dax Shepardâs podcast, the comedianâs wife and his talk showâs co-head writer, Molly McNearney, discussed the effects of Kimmel and Trumpâs constant feud on her children.
Stating that her two children have noticed Trumpâs rage against Kimmel, McNearney said itâs âweirdâ for her kids to grow up learning that the president of the United States doesnât like their father.
Molly McNearney Says Jimmy Kimmelâs Feud With Trump Affected Their Kids
Appearing on the Monday episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Molly McNearney discussed what her children, Jane and Billy, had to go through because of their fatherâs feud with Donald Trump.
Claiming that Kimmelâs relentless verbal mockery of Trump and the presidentâs counterattacks against the comedian havenât gone unnoticed by her kids, McNearney lamented that itâs been a âwild childhoodâ for them.
She said, âI said to Jim the other day, Iâm like, âThis is what a wild childhood is for these kids to know that the president of the United States doesnât like their father.â I mean, thatâs not a great feeling.â
Further into the conversation, McNearney explained how her two children learned about their fatherâs suspension from ABC following his monologue on Charlie Kirkâs assassination in September 2025.
âWe said we had to explain what was going on because there were helicopters and noise outside her house, and also, they were still in school, and this was becoming a very huge story,â Kimmelâs wife explained.

McNearney revealed, âWe didnât know how big it would be, and we didnât know if the kids were going to hear about it at school. So, we said the show has been canceled for a little bit. And Jane said, âIs this Donald Trumpâs fault?â And we said, âYes.ââ
Kimmel Admits Being Unfazed by His Suspension and Donald Trumpâs Attacks
Following his wife Molly McNearneyâs comments about how their children, Jane and Billy, were affected by Jimmy Kimmelâs suspension and his feud with Donald Trump, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host opened up about his own experience.
Speaking with Dax Shepard, Kimmel mentioned how he has been âhardenedâ by life and his former job, while facing the presidentâs constant taunting and his apparent obsession with the host. The 58-year-old claimed heâs now largely unfazed in life.
âI let it roll off my back much more than I ever had. The older I get, the less affected I am by that⊠Before I did this job and even before I was on television, I was in a very stressful job as a radio disc jockey, getting fired from town to town,â Kimmel shared.
He added, âAnd Iâve become hardened in some ways. And also, at that time, when I lost my job, I was in deep financial trouble. I couldnât miss one paycheck. It was a problem ifâand I do try to remember thatâI go, âOK, if I donât have this job, weâre going to be OK.ââ
