While Donald Trump and Jimmy Kimmel have locked horns in their bitter war of words, Kimmel’s wife is now revealing how the feud has affected their family

Appearing on Dax Shepard’s podcast, the comedian’s wife and his talk show’s co-head writer, Molly McNearney, discussed the effects of Kimmel and Trump’s constant feud on her children.

Stating that her two children have noticed Trump’s rage against Kimmel, McNearney said it’s “weird” for her kids to grow up learning that the president of the United States doesn’t like their father.

Molly McNearney Says Jimmy Kimmel’s Feud With Trump Affected Their Kids

Appearing on the Monday episode of the Armchair Expert podcast, Molly McNearney discussed what her children, Jane and Billy, had to go through because of their father’s feud with Donald Trump.

Claiming that Kimmel’s relentless verbal mockery of Trump and the president’s counterattacks against the comedian haven’t gone unnoticed by her kids, McNearney lamented that it’s been a “wild childhood” for them.

She said, “I said to Jim the other day, I’m like, ‘This is what a wild childhood is for these kids to know that the president of the United States doesn’t like their father.’ I mean, that’s not a great feeling.”

Further into the conversation, McNearney explained how her two children learned about their father’s suspension from ABC following his monologue on Charlie Kirk’s assassination in September 2025.

“We said we had to explain what was going on because there were helicopters and noise outside her house, and also, they were still in school, and this was becoming a very huge story,” Kimmel’s wife explained.

McNearney revealed, “We didn’t know how big it would be, and we didn’t know if the kids were going to hear about it at school. So, we said the show has been canceled for a little bit. And Jane said, ‘Is this Donald Trump’s fault?’ And we said, ‘Yes.’”

Kimmel Admits Being Unfazed by His Suspension and Donald Trump’s Attacks

Following his wife Molly McNearney’s comments about how their children, Jane and Billy, were affected by Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension and his feud with Donald Trump, the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host opened up about his own experience.

Speaking with Dax Shepard, Kimmel mentioned how he has been “hardened” by life and his former job, while facing the president’s constant taunting and his apparent obsession with the host. The 58-year-old claimed he’s now largely unfazed in life.

“I let it roll off my back much more than I ever had. The older I get, the less affected I am by that
Before I did this job and even before I was on television, I was in a very stressful job as a radio disc jockey, getting fired from town to town,” Kimmel shared.

He added, “And I’ve become hardened in some ways. And also, at that time, when I lost my job, I was in deep financial trouble. I couldn’t miss one paycheck. It was a problem if—and I do try to remember that—I go, ‘OK, if I don’t have this job, we’re going to be OK.’”
