Kris Jenner allegedly had a strong reaction after discovering that her decades-old affair is included in a new biography about her daughter, Kim Kardashian.
Jonathan Van Meter, author of Citizen Kim: The Woman Who Created the Future, recently revealed that Kardashian contacted him late at night a few months ago to discuss her mother’s response to the book. Van Meter has spent extensive time with the Kardashian-Jenner family while working on the biography, which is scheduled for release on Oct. 27.
In a new interview, Van Meter was asked whether any members of the famous family had read the book ahead of its release. He said Kardashian had told him about an incident involving Jenner while the family was filming their Hulu reality series, The Kardashians.

According to Van Meter, Kardashian had “been at Khloé’s house, where Khloé told her Kris had flipped out on camera while they were filming the show.”
The author recounted Kim explaining that Jenner was upset about the inclusion of her past relationship in the biography. Van Meter said Jenner was yelling, “Why did Kim drag us all into this? Why is my affair from 30 years ago in the book?”

However, the reported reaction did not last long. Van Meter claimed that “two days later,” the momager “was fine.”

He also suggested that the incident could eventually be addressed on the family’s reality show, adding, “It’s going to be on the show,” in reference to The Kardashians, which is now in its eighth season.
According to the author, Kim also explained why she believed her mother should be open to participating in a book that examines her life and the family’s public image. Van Meter claimed the Skims founder said to Jenner, “All this stuff gets written about us, and then a guy comes along who gets us and wants to explain us. Why wouldn’t you want that?”
The author added, “That’s the closest I got to an answer about why she did the book,” referring to Kim’s participation in the biography.
Although Van Meter reportedly did not identify the person involved in the affair discussed in the book, Jenner has previously spoken publicly about an extramarital relationship with Todd Waterman in 1989.

The relationship took place during her marriage to Robert Kardashian, the late attorney who was part of O.J. Simpson’s defense team. Jenner and Robert were married from 1978 to 1991 and shared four children: Kourtney, Kim, Khloé, and Rob Kardashian Jr.
Jenner has previously expressed regret about the relationship, which lasted several months and contributed to difficulties in her marriage.
During a 2023 episode of The Kardashians, Khloé asked her mother about her decision to cheat on Robert. Jenner offered an explanation for what led her to become involved with someone else.
“I think that I fell into a situation where I thought that the grass was greener somewhere else,” Jenner said.
