Mark Ruffalo has made headlines after he criticized Paramount and Warner Bros. Discovery merger by highlighting Oracle’s ties to Israel and technology used after the 2023 Hamas attacks. Paramount fired back at the actor and accused him of invoking “antisemitic tropes”, and Ruffalo rejected the charge.

In May 2026, Ruffalo and co-author Matt Stoller wrote in a New York Times op-ed that many Hollywood stars privately supported an open letter opposing the merger between the two companies but declined to sign it. He said that they feared for their career and of being blacklisted by major studio executives. He described a “deep, ugly and pervasive fear of speaking out,” citing examples of alleged pressure related to the deal.

Recently, a handful of celebrities have come forward to support Mark Ruffalo pushing back against Paramount’s “antisemitism” claims. The list of celebrities includes names such as John Cusack, Hannah Einbinder, David Bluvband, Paul Walter Hauser, Tatum O'Neal, Dana Dargos.

List of celebrities supporting Mark Ruffalo amid Paramount’s “antisemitism” claims

Ever since Mark Ruffalo faced sharp criticism from Paramount after he slammed its merger with Warner Bros. Discovery, many celebrities have defended his right to make those criticisms.

Actor John Cusack has lent his support to theAvengers actor amid Paramount’s claims of “antisemitism.” In response to Ruffalo’s defense remarks who rejected the charge, Cusack wrote on X:

“Solidarity - well said.”

Cusack reposted Mark Ruffalo’s lengthy X post from August 23, 2026, where he wrote:

“The accusation that I am antisemitic is appalling and fundamentally dishonest. Criticizing the actions of the Israeli prime minister, a military technology contract, or the executives who supply it is not the same as criticizing Jewish people. This critical and necessary dialogue is then dishonestly framed as being anti-Israel.”

The controversy erupted after Mark Ruffalo shared an Instagram story featuring a 2024 clip of Safra Catz discussing the company’s “really profoundly scary technologies” provided to Israel after the October 7, 2023 Hamas attacks.

He wrote that Larry Ellison was using Oracle to fund his son David’s Warner Bros. acquisition, and warned that such technologies could end up in a major media conglomerate “and one day used on you.”

Hannah Einbinder has also backed Ruffalo through a social media post. She posted an Instagram Story on August 24, 2026 where she said:

“I’m so grateful that Mark Ruffalo drew a connection between the Ellisons providing military technology to Israel during a genocide and their unprecedented media takeover–and pointed out that this is a dangerous consolidation of power that could ultimately be used against us.”

She called the accusation that Ruffalo spoke out "because the Ellisons are Jewish is LUDICROUS." Einbinder questioned whether it is “antisemitic” to point out that Safra Catz, the Oracle executive vice chair is on Paramount’s board or that Larry Ellison has been buying favors with Trump by donating tens of millions to his political efforts. She argued that Ruffalo criticized right-wing tech oligarchs and their business power, not a religious or ethnic identity.

Meanwhile, actor and comedian David Bluvband backed the Spotlight star by sharing a post on Threads which read:

“I stand with Mark Ruffalo.”

Paul Walter Hauser, the actor known for Cobra Kai, Black Bird and Mole Man in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, defended Ruffalo on Instagram by posting in support of him. He shared an image shared on Instagram and wrote:

“If you think that Mark Ruffalo is antisemitic, you are an actual m*r*n.”

In the caption, he added a heart emoji and wrote:

“Focus on an actual harmful person, not the guy who everyone in Hollywood knows is hyper-intelligent, empathetic and talented. Find a new target, dude.”

Tatum O’Neal, daughter of the late actor Ryan O’Neal, supported Mark Ruffalo by praising him on Threads. She praised him for his profession and his honesty and wrote:

“He’s being so honest about what’s happening because it’s wrong on so many levels in Gaza and the heritage foundation project 2025 we’re in a fascist regime horrifying.”

Writer Dana Dargos has also thrown in her support for Ruffalo. On August 24, she posted on Threads:

“Mark Ruffalo calling out Paramount and the Ellisons for supporting genocide, only for them to turn around and accuse him of antisemitism, is peak gaslighting—a complete lack of self-awareness and an absolute refusal to take accountability.”

Dargos is a Lebanese-American author of the award-winning novel Einstein in the Attic. She has also previously shown her support for Ruffalo and John Cusack.
