Meet “R.J. Decker” Star Scott Speedman's 2 Kids

Scott Speedman is a devoted dad of two to his daughter Pfeiffer and son Indy.
The R.J. Decker star shares two children with his fiancée, swimwear designer Lindsay Rae Hofmann. The couple, who got engaged in June 2023, became parents for the first time in October 2021 with the birth of their daughter, Pfeiffer Lucia. Three years later, the pair welcomed their son, Indy Roy.
Fatherhood has had a huge impact on the Grey's Anatomy actor, both on- and off-screen. “Now, having kids, I'm like, I need to go back and redo whole performances,” he told the Los Angeles Times in October 2024.
Although he’s played a dad on-screen before, it’s completely different now that he’s a father in real life.
“When you have kids, something else kicks in, some part of your brain kicks in, and all you care about is that you want to do whatever it takes to protect them,” he explained, adding, “Being a parent is scary.”

On Oct. 26, 2021, Speedman and Hofmann welcomed their daughter, Pfeiffer.
Months earlier, on Mother’s Day, Speedman’s then-girlfriend announced that they were expecting their first child together.
“In full bloom,” she wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of her baby bump. “Baby girl Speedman coming soon.”
Shortly before their daughter’s birth, Speedman spoke to PEOPLE about how “tremendously excited” he was to become a first-time parent. “I probably wasn't ready as a younger guy, and now I'm ready to sort of give over to it. The timing just feels great,” he said.
He went on to praise Hofmann, calling his future fiancée “amazing” before noting that he was ready for his life to change.
“Everybody says that having kids changes your life. And whatever that means, I’m excited to find out," Speedman said.
Hofmann shared the news of Pfeiffer's birth on Instagram a week after she arrived with a sweet caption explaining the meaning behind her moniker.
“Pfeiffer, for her heart to always feel connected to the nature and sea & Lucia, to forever be our little ‘light’. We love you little Pfeiff,” she wrote.
The couple opted for a home birth, which Speedman later described as a “hilarious” experience.

“It’s a wild thing to experience,” the actor told the Cut in an interview just two months later in December. “To be there to watch, to see this person you love so much going to this level. It was incredible.”
He went on to say that he thought it was “important” for Hofmann to choose their baby’s name, explaining that the inspiration came from the Julia Pfeiffer Burns State Park in Big Sur, Calif., where the couple have spent a lot of time.

“There’s [also] something vaguely Scottish about it to me that I liked,” the actor, who was born in London to Scottish parents, said.
Speaking about their new family, Speedman shared that he was initially concerned about how his dog, a yellow Labrador named Bodhi, would react to the baby.
“He’s been really good,” he said. “He’s very curious; sometimes he’s a little scared of her too. It’s a big change for him, so we’re all going through it.”
As for Speedman, he noted that although he had an “easier” role than Hofmann, he was still shocked by the difficulty of parenthood.
“You don’t really know what you’re doing. You’re trying to figure out why is the baby crying, and I don’t know anything,” he said. “That’s been surprising to me.”

The couple, who got engaged in the summer of 2023, welcomed their second child, Indy, on Sept. 2, 2024.
Months earlier, in March 2024, Hofmann shared the news that she and Speedman were expecting their second baby. “New le bébé coming soon…” she wrote on Instagram alongside a black-and-white photo of her holding Pfeiffer with a small baby bump showing.
While it’s unclear where the name Indy came from, his middle name is an homage to Speedman’s late father, who passed away in 1999.
Hofmann announced Indy's arrival a few weeks after he was born on Instagram.
“Our beautiful boy is here,” she wrote alongside several black-and-white photos of their family. “Our hearts have burst right open and we’ve fallen madly in love. You came fast and furious the day after your daddy’s birthday and on your official due date—September 2nd at 7:12 am at a surprising 8lbs. We love you Indy bug, it was always you.”

Unlike their firstborn, Indy was born in the hospital. In a March 2026 interview on Live with Kelly and Mark, the actor explained that they ended up going to the hospital right away when their daughter was born because she “wasn’t breathing great,” so this time around, they opted not to do a home birth again.
“It was great,” he said, before noting that being a dad of two has “changed everything” for him.
Speedman has also spoken about how becoming a father in his 40s has been beneficial for him.
“If I’d had two kids in my 20s, it would’ve not been great. So I’m very glad to be the age I am now,” he told The Hollywood Reporter in October 2024. “Having kids now is right for me. It’s hard in some ways, but great in other ways.”
He continued, “You want to work more for them, and you want your family to be all with you. ... I’m way more ambitious now than I ever have been, and that’s just how I always wanted to be.”
Still, now that he has two kids, his career is always going to come second.
“What a humbling experience it is and what a hard job it is,” he said of parenthood. “It really is the most important job.”
