Molly Ringwald celebrated her daughter Mathilda’s 23rd birthday on social media.
Mathilda is one of three children that the Pretty in Pink star shares with husband Panio Gianopoulos.
An actress like her mom, Mathilda appeared in the 2024 Anne Hathaway movie The Idea of You.
Molly Ringwald doesn’t forget a birthday.
The Sixteen Candles star marked her daughter Mathilda’s 23rd on Thursday with a sweet message alongside photos of Mathilda as a young child and more like she is today: “Happy birthday my beautiful firstborn. I love you so much!!”
The actress and her husband, Panio Gianopoulos, whom she married in 2007, share Mathilda and 17-year-old twins Adele and Roman, and they rarely put them in the spotlight.
Mathilda, at least, is following her mother into acting. She was part of the cast of the 2024 Anne Hathaway movie The Idea of You.
Before she filmed, her Brat Pack mom gave her some career advice.
“Be prepared to wait and be nice, which you should always be anyways,” Mathilda relayed to PEOPLE in October 2023.

Her actress mom was nearby, and chimed in that her daughter should “remember people’s names.”

Ringwald said the subject was “something that we thought a lot about. She learned how to do it before but it’s a hard job and I think she knows what she’s in for.”
At that point, Mathilda had already worked as a model.
Her mom came to fame when she was younger than Mathilda is now, starring in several John Hughes films of the ‘80s, which also included The Breakfast Club and Pretty in Pink.
Ringwald has sustained her career for decades, with roles on TV’s Riverdale, The Secret Life of the American Teenager, Monster, and Feud: Capote vs. The Swans, along with appearances in movies such as 2015’s Jem and the Holograms and The Kissing Booth franchise.

In August, at the premiere of her movie One Night Only, Ringwald explained what she’s told her eldest daughter about dating.
“The dating advice I always give her is just to be herself,” Ringwald told E! News in a joint interview. “And also to respect yourself and not to do anything she doesn’t want to do.”
Mathilda confirmed.
“Oh, she’s like, ‘No second chances, don’t put up with all that,’” Ringwald’s daughter said. “I feel like you’re very strict.”
