Bride Miranda Marie Bair was more than happy to share the spotlight on her wedding day.
The entrepreneur and mother of two tied the knot with her husband, businessman Bryan Bair, on April 4, and it turned out to be a doubly joyful occasion. While Miranda, 38, was preparing to toss her bouquet at the reception, she suddenly paused and walked over to her daughter, Brooklyn, and handed the flowers to the 19-year-old. Brooklyn's longtime boyfriend, Landon, then got down on one knee and popped the question.
Reflecting on the emotional engagement, Miranda tells PEOPLE that "it was the kind of surprise you dream of pulling off." She says she had known for months that Landon had a ring for Brooklyn, and then her daughter's boyfriend came to her to discuss potential ideas for a proposal — one that Brooklyn "would never expect."

"The idea came unexpectedly," Miranda recalls. "My son suggested doing it at my wedding. It was perfect. Both families would already be there, everyone would be dressed up, and it would be a complete surprise."
"We planned it so that when I tossed my bouquet, I would hand it directly to her, and that’s when Landon would propose," she adds.
She says she and Landon managed to keep the plan a secret, and Brooklyn's "reaction said it all" in the moment. Miranda was thrilled to have played a key role in such a happy milestone for her daughter, who has been dating her now-fiancé since the sixth grade.
"As a mother, your children are always at the center of your world, and being able to create that moment for her — surrounded by love, family and such a meaningful setting — was incredibly special," she explains, adding, "It was the kind of surprise you dream of pulling off."
For Miranda, sharing such a poignant moment with her daughter was especially meaningful considering the journey the pair have traveled together.
Miranda tells PEOPLE that she gave birth to Brooklyn when she was a teenager. "I had my daughter young, dropped out in 11th grade, and stepped into a life I wasn’t prepared for," she says. "But I knew I had someone depending on me, and that became my purpose."

She and Brooklyn's father, who were high school sweethearts at the time, ultimately went their separate ways but maintained a strong co-parenting relationship as they raised their daughter. Miranda then welcomed a son, now 16, when she was 22.
"During that time, I faced one of the hardest seasons of my life — his father struggled with addiction and was incarcerated while I was pregnant and the majority of his life," she says. "Suddenly, I was a young single mom with two kids, working multiple jobs just to survive."

Determined to "build a better future" for her kids, Miranda enrolled in cosmetology school while juggling night shifts at a bar. Through it all, she says she never lost sight of the fact that her hard work and sacrifice were for the sake of her family.

"We’ve experienced both beautiful moments and very difficult ones, but through it all, we built an unbreakable bond," Miranda tells PEOPLE. "Today, my kids are 19 and 16, stepping into adulthood with strength and awareness. I truly believe we’ve broken generational cycles, and I couldn’t be more proud of who they are becoming."
Miranda and Brooklyn have shared a special connection ever since the now-19-year-old was born prematurely, weighing just 4 lbs., and Miranda was navigating all the uncertainty and challenges of new motherhood.
"Being a teen mom, I made mistakes — there’s no way around that — but she witnessed those experiences and chose a different path for herself," she says. "Watching her grow into the woman she is today has been one of the greatest rewards of my life."

Miranda calls Brooklyn her "best friend" and her "constant."
"I’m incredibly grateful that she still chooses to have me so deeply involved in her life," she says, describing the moment when she handed her daughter her wedding bouquet as "symbolic."
"It felt like healing not only my own past, but generations before me," she explains. "In that moment, I knew she would be loved the right way, and that gave me peace I can’t even describe."
Now, Miranda is looking forward to being by Brooklyn's side as she plans her wedding to Landon.
"I can’t wait to help her create the wedding she deserves," the proud mom says, adding of her daughter and future son-in-law, "While they’re young, they’re also building a strong foundation — focusing on school, their future and doing things the right way. We’re taking it slow, but I truly believe in their love. Wedding will be in 2028!"
As for her own next chapter, Miranda — who met and sparked a connection with her husband, Bryan, on social media, where she was sharing her "healing journey" amid a divorce — says she hopes her story can serve as inspiration to others that new beginnings are always possible.
"Behind every beautiful moment are years of struggle, growth, heartbreak and healing. I want people to understand that no matter where you start — whether you’re a scared teen mom, going through divorce or feeling lost — you can rebuild your life," she tells PEOPLE. "You can find love. You can create something beautiful."
She adds, "Your story isn’t over. It’s just beginning."
