While William, heir to the throne, doesn’t have much choice about his final career, the Prince of Wales spent nearly eight years in the military, then two years as an air ambulance pilot after graduating from St. Andrew’s.

Prince Harry wrote about his own non-royal ambitions in his searing 2023 memoir, “Spare.”

The Duke of Sussex wrote that “for several years, I’d talked in all seriousness about working at the ski resort in Lech am Arlberg, where Mummy used to take us.... Specifically, I wanted to work at the fondue hut in the center of town, which Mummy loved.”

Harry spent 10 years in the British Armed Forces and ended his operational duties in 2015. During his service, he conducted two tours of duty in Afghanistan.
