Jussie Smollett and Karamo Brown are dating, a source tells PEOPLE

The two were photographed on a stroll together in Los Angeles on Monday, June 29

Brown praised his relationship on a recent podcast, though he did not name his partner in the interview

Jussie Smollett and Karamo Brown are dating, a source confirms to PEOPLE.

TMZ published photos of Smollett, 44, and Brown, 45, together on an outing in Los Angeles on Monday, June 29. In one photo, Smollett reached over to cup Brown's chin while on a stroll.

PEOPLE reached out to reps for Brown and Smollett for comment.

Brown appeared on the Tuesday, June 30 episode of Carlos King's Reality with the Kingpodcast, and during the interview, the Queer Eye alum confirmed that he is "dating a celebrity" and is "100 percent sure" he's the one. He did not mention Smollett by name.

"I could get emotional. I've met my equal," Brown said. "And it's powerful when you meet someone who you feel 100 percent safe with, you feel 100 percent secure with, who you can just trust with your heart, because you know they are just a great human being, and they get everything. It's special. It's pretty amazing. ... We're not taking it slow, we are deep in love. But [that's the reason] why we are not public yet, because we don't want comments. We are protecting the love we have, because I do believe this is going to be my husband. I believe this is going to be my forever person. I feel it every single day."

Brown added that they don't argue and everything comes "easy" for them. "We just get each other. It's constant laughter. It's constant love. It's just constant everything," he said, adding that it was important for him to "protect what I'm doing" and keep things private.

News of their relationship comes days after Brown showed Smollett support when 50 Cent criticized the Empire actor's performance at Harlem Pride. In a June 29 Instagram post, the rapper, 50, shared a video of Smollett singing and dancing on stage and mocked his performance. Brown came to Smollett's defense, writing, “I was at this PRIDE event and Jussie killed it. F--- off for using one clip from the entire 30 min show to try to bring someone down,” in the comments.

On June 4, TMZ reported that Smollett had called off his engagement to Jabari Redd, nearly a year after he proposed. A source told the outlet their split was amicable.

Smollett and Redd had been dating since at least 2022. The pair starred opposite each other in The Lost Holliday, which was also written and directed by Smollett.

Brown's most recent public relationship was with his ex-fiancé Ian Jordan. The pair called off their engagement in 2020, after 10 years together. While on TheEllen DeGeneres Show in September 2020, Brown said the split was amicable and they remained friends.
