"Sinners" star Wunmi Mosaku lit up the 2026 Golden Globes red carpet Sunday night with both her fashion look and a surprise pregnancy reveal.
The 39-year-old Nigerian-British actress hit the first official awards show of the season, donning a canary yellow gown and caressing her bump as the cameras flashed. Mosaku paired the custom floor-length Matthew Reisman gown with a simple updo and refined, if not still glitzy, jewelry accents.
Her red carpet announcement coincided with a personal essay she penned for Vogue about motherhood and her pregnancy. "It's delicate and fragile," she wrote. "Scary and awe-inspiring. Humbling and deeply profound."

Mosaku, who played Annie in Ryan Coogler's vampire film starring Michael B. Jordan and Hailee Steinfeld, wrote in the essay that she was sharing the news of her pregnancy publicly to get ahead of speculation.
"Truthfully, I'd love to just show up as me – a woman who happens to be pregnant – celebrating our powerful film and our amazing team, while I protect this most sacred prayer of my life," she wrote. "So, I've decided to stop trying to camouflage my bump today at the Golden Globes, so me and baby can truly enjoy and embrace the moment fully together."
Ahead of the Golden Globes, Mosaku was spotted at the BAFTA Tea Party celebration and the AARP Movies for Grownups Awards on Saturday, Jan. 10, where she reunited with Coogler and fellow co-star Delroy Lindo.
Mosaku's "Sinners" co-star Steinfeld was also recently the subject of pregnancy speculation after missing a few events, and in December, the actress confirmed she was expecting her first child with NFL player Josh Allen.

In the essay, the former "Lovecraft Country" actress also shared the sentimental details behind her choice of gown.
"In Yoruba, we say Iya ni Wúrà, which means 'mother is golden,' so when I saw sketches of this beautiful custom yellow Matthew Reisman, I knew it was the right dress and the right moment," she wrote.
She also wrote of the challenges Black mothers face during pregnancy, citing medical bias and the staggeringly high maternal mortality rate.
"For Black mothers, the path to peace is rarely that simple. Pregnancy and birth carry its own battles and terrifying statistics," she wrote, adding she was in the process of launching her own clothing line for mothers called Iyadé.
The name means "mother has arrived" in Yoruba.

Weaving together her pride for the success of "Sinners," her exhaustion around the constant scrutiny of women's bodies, and her deep ties to Nigerian culture, Mosaku concluded the essay with: "So, all of that to say: This is my anti-announcement pregnancy announcement. Sacred. And scared. Say a prayer for a safe arrival and recovery."
