After first deciding they didn't want to expand their family, Tarek said they changed their minds and welcomed their son Tristan in 2023
Tarek El Moussa is reflecting on all the major milestones he's hit with his wife Heather over the years.
In an Instagram post on Monday, April 27, the HGTV star, 44, detailed the pair's “love story” and highlighted how they knew they were meant for each other almost immediately — including when it came to moving in together.
“I laid on my boat horn to grab her attention and keep the other guy from hitting on her,” he wrote over a throwback photo of the pair, referring to the first time they met when they were celebrating the Fourth of July at neighboring boat parties in 2019.
“First date and I knew I met the love of my life,” he continued. “Less than a week after, we moved in together and never looked back.”
Sharing another photo of his two older kids when they were younger, he added, “Heather met Taylor and Brayden for the first time.” Tarek shares his now 15-year-old daughter and 10-year-old son with his ex-wife, HGTV star Christina Haack.
Over a photo from his romantic proposal to Heather, 38, in Catalina Island, Calif., he added, “I got down on one knee to ask this woman to spend her life with me."
“Had some troubles planning a wedding during the pandemic,” Tarek continued, before referring to their October 2021 wedding, “Finally got married! (Flipped her name for good).”
He then shared a snap from their honeymoon in the Maldives, before getting into their journey of deciding whether or not to have more children.
“We didn't want more kids, but then changed our minds, and started IVF together. Heather had her egg extractions done. Baby El Moussa was on his way! Baby boy El Moussa, actually,” he said, referring to his and Heather's son Tristan, who was born in January 2023.

He concluded the post by recalling the launch of his and Heather's HGTV series, The Flipping El Moussas. (A source told PEOPLE in July 2025 that the show would not be returning for another season.)
Tarek also highlighted their other HGTV show, The Flip Off, starring the El Moussas alongside Haack. The trio are currently filming season 2, which is set to premiere later in 2026.

In October 2025, Heather took to Instagram to reflect on her marriage with Tarek in celebration of their four-year wedding anniversary.
Alongside a collection of video clips documenting their relationship over the years, the Selling Sunset alum got candid in the caption about how marriage is not always easy. However, they always come out of any hardship stronger.

“To my honey. We've had such a full life together already. Life can be hard, marriage can be hard,” she wrote at the time. “And I do know there will be ups and there will be downs but it is also so beautiful to be in this life with you as my partner. I love you and I'm so excited to keep growing and learning together to be the best versions of ourselves.”
She also gave a shoutout to the “beautiful family” they're raising together, and concluded her message by reflecting on how they will always continue to “learn from our mistakes together.”
