The ASICS Los Angeles Marathon returns on Sunday, March 8, causing early morning road closures across the region as participants trek from Dodger Stadium to Century City.

The annual marathon will see thousands of people make their way toward the Westside, taking participants through Chinatown, West Hollywood, Brentwood, and other parts of the county. Events part of the marathon begin on Saturday, March 7, including the LA 5K.

Here’s what to know about timing and road closures if you’re going to be in the Los Angeles area this weekend, all according to marathon hosts The McCourt Foundation.

Where does the LA Marathon start?

The start line is at Dodger Stadium.

Where does the LA Marathon end?

The marathon ends on Santa Monica Boulevard at the corner of Avenue of the Stars in Century City.

What time does the LA Marathon start?

Start times for the marathon are staggered. So, if you’re near the start line, know that participants will begin their race at 6:30 a.m. and run through 8:15 a.m. on March 8.

Road closures will start on a rolling basis at 3 a.m. on March 8.

Road closures affect parts of major streets such as Cesar Chavez Avenue, Sunset Boulevard, Wilshire Boulevard, and more.

No freeways are closed for the marathon on Sunday, March 8. However, some ramps will be closed. They are:

Northbound 110: Hill Street/Stadium Way; and 110 northbound to 101 southbound at Temple Street

Southbound 110: Hill Street; Stadium Way; and Sunset Boulevard

Southbound 101: Temple Street; Broadway; Highland Boulevard; Vine Street (right turn lane); Gower Street (right turn lane); and Hollywood Boulevard

Northbound 101: Spring Street; Grand Avenue; Echo Park Avenue/Glendale Boulevard; Hollywood Boulevard; Gower Street (left turn lane); and Highland Boulevard

Southbound 405: Santa Monica Boulevard (left lane), and Wilshire Boulevard, both eastbound and westbound

When will the roads reopen for the LA Marathon?

It’s up to local authorities to determine when roadways are safe to reopen, but roads are supposed to reopen to traffic on a rolling basis.

How long is the LA Marathon?

The marathon is 26.2 miles.

What time does the LA Marathon end?

Know that the race lasts for six hours and 30 minutes after the last runner crosses the start line. Eventually, participants still completing the marathon will have to get off the roadway and run on the sidewalk. The finish line hours are 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 8.

What time is the LA 5K?

Planning to be in Los Angeles on Saturday, March 7? The LA 5K, which is at Dodger Stadium, starts at 8 a.m.
