"It's honestly so crazy to me looking back on this journey because I had been trying to get into theater and film way before Secret Lives even came into my life," she shared, saying that the reality show "fell into my life organically and I said yes to it." Leavitt added that, while the show had not been the path she had "envisioned in my mind to get to where I am today," she nevertheless "wouldn't change a thing."The momfluencer reflected on her fellow co-stars in her video as well, saying that they had "experienced so much" together, and in turn, she had also "learned so much about myself."
Continuing, she added, "We have been through so much together, even more than what you've seen. We've had really big highs, really big lows and no matter what happens with our relationships like that is something that will always be a part of our life, will always be a part of my life and I wouldn't change a thing."
Leavitt also addressed the times when she had "walked away" from MomTok (the content-creation group that the stars of the show had been part of prior to landing their roles on the series). "It came from a place of anger and frustration," she shared, adding that this time, her leaving was "significantly different because I'm leaving with gratitude.""I feel content," Leavitt then said. "I feel like this is a chapter that's closing in my life and honestly, I believe that's how it was always meant to be. I'm so grateful for the Secret Lives of Mormon Wives. It's got me where I am today. It's given me the opportunities that you all have seen but I'm ready. I'm ready for the next chapter and I can not wait to share with you guys what's next."Leavitt's departure announcement surprised fans during her final Sunday, May 3, performance as Roxie in Chicago. The news comes just as her hugely successful run in Chicago wrapped, during which she smashed the musical's box office record with the highest weekly ticket sales in the show's 29-year history.
In a post on Instagram from her wrap party for the role, Leavitt reflected on her time on Broadway, writing in the caption: "the only people I'd take shots with 😝🥂can't express enough how much this journey has meant to me. Even though it's the end of this chapter it feels like the beginning of many more. I love you @chicagomusical family ♥️♥️♥️ thank you for everything✨."
News of Whitney's departure from Mormon Wives comes following a tumultuous time for the Hulu show. Late last month, PEOPLE reported that season 5 of the series was set to continue filming following a weeks-long pause amid an open "domestic assault investigation" involving one of the show's other stars, Taylor Frankie Paul, 31, and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. A spinoff, titled The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County, was officially announced by Hulu on April 22, with original MomTok star Jen Affleck later confirmed to be joining the cast, which features the likes of Aspyn Ovard and Bobbi Althoff.
