The music and legacy of the King of Pop is coming to life at the Coughlin-Saunders Performing Arts Center in downtown Alexandria on Wednesday, Oct. 28, with a full-scale tribute of “Michael Jackson HIStory Show” starring Garth Field.
Since the show will be "on the cusp of All Hallows Eve," Arts Council of Central Louisiana executive director Matt Henry said they encourage audience members to come dressed in their favorite Michael Jackson costume.
“Zombies of course are welcomed and encouraged,” he said. “There will be a costume contest with contestants getting their photos taken at intermission for a chance to win free tickets to an upcoming ACCL presentation.”
Tickets purchased online at louisiana-arts.org are $40 for general admission, $35 for Arts Council of Central Louisiana members and $30 for children ages 18 and under. All tickets will be $45 at the door.
Organizers encourage attendees to purchase tickets in advance to secure preferred seating close to the stage.
This production presented by the Arts Council of Central Louisiana and Showtime celebrates the life, music and influence of Michael Jackson through live performances, elaborate choreography, costumes and theatrical effects.
“The show is already touring and sharing photos of the outstanding lighting and visual effects, along with Garth Field’s recreation of many of MJ’s iconic moments on stage such as the moonwalk, the famous lean in ‘Smooth Criminal’, and of course the unforgettable choreography of ‘Thriller,’” Henry said.
Backed by a live band, the show recreates the energy and spectacle of Jackson’s iconic music videos and concert performances. Fans will be treated to many of his biggest hits, including “Thriller,” “Billie Jean,” “Smooth Criminal,” “Bad,” “Beat It,” “ABC,” “Don’t Stop ’Til You Get Enough,” “Human Nature,” “P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” and “They Don’t Care About Us.”

Audiences will be taken on a journey through Jackson’s decades-long career, from his early years with the Jackson 5 to his rise as a global superstar in the 1980s and his lasting impact on popular culture in the 21st century.
“This is a unique opportunity to see a live presentation by a professional international touring company taking the audience through the progression of the Michael Jackson phenomenon from his early days as part of the Jackson 5 to his ultimate domination of Pop Culture,” Henry said.
He said the show is suitable for all ages.
“And will give young people who did not grow up with his music the chance to see the experience recreated live, which is rare these days, with authentic costumes along with choreographed dancers and state of the art lighting and visual effects,” he said. “Except for those few who may have had the opportunity to see him live, this will be your chance to experience this right here in Central Louisiana.”
Henry said that Jackson’s music is particularly relevant now since the Broadway musical “MJ the Musical” was released in 2021 and is now touring Asia. And the biographical drama “Michael” was released this past April.
Field, known for his portrayal of Jackson, leads the production alongside choreographed dancers and a team utilizing state-of-the-art sound, lighting and visual effects to recreate the energy and spectacle of Jackson’s legendary performances.
The Michael Jackson HIStory Show is a tribute production and is not associated with the Estate of Michael Jackson.
